Shout It Shatter

Random Favourites

I'm a fan of all sorts of art, and refuse to confine my eyes to only one particular genre. I believe diversity is the hallmark of a great intellect, so I'm always on the hunt for more outstanding pieces to add to my virtual collection.

My workspace is clean and built for one purpose: performance.

In 1998, my dad bought me the first video game console I ever owned--a Sony Playstation--and one game to go with it: Spyro the Dragon. See, I had grown up loving video games whenever I played them at my friends' houses, but with never one to call my own. So for all my early years, I regarded video games with this mystical sort of wonder and fascination, as though they were these mythological contraptions fueled by magic, dreams, and unicorns.

That is, until I got my hands on that PlayStation controller and breathed that little purple dragon's first fire breath. That's when I realized video games really ARE mythological contraptions fueled by magic, dreams, and unicorns.

So the magic is written in code, the dreams are a business document called a game concept, and the unicorns are rocket launchers--video games are still an enchanted frontier for human imagination if you ask me. As are many other new media that have come into their own in the 21st century, in fact.

For over 11 years since I first plunged into the gnorc-infested plains of the Dragon Kingdoms, I've followed Spyro's phenomenal developers at Insomniac Games and become an avid fan of all their IP's, from Ratchet & Clank to Resistance. I'd even go so far as to call their CEO/founder Ted Price the man who's had the most influence on my career, followed by legendary entertainer Bob Hope and my own father. Religiously I've researched everything there is to know about Insomniac Games, right down to their zany philosophies in the workplace. To this day I dream of working with them, and I feel that when I finally do, I'll have pretty much won at life.

I guess all in all, you could call me a ward of the Digital Age. Growing up with computers, movies, and video games, you can't help but fall in love with the industry. Honestly though, the real reason I think I'm so passionate about my career in digital entertainment production is that I just love telling great stories.

Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return, to obtain something of equal value must be lost, that is alchemys first law of equivalent exchange.
